A MINOR GLITCH

Rick has a small pneumothorax(minor deflation of his lung/ not symptomatic just found on daily chest Xray) which has prevented the last chest tube from being removed. He's hooked back up to suction and there really isn't any drainage in the chest tube. Not a big deal but more time to wait. The restless bug has set in. The staples are all out and the incision is open to air. Nice and clean and dry.
Rick is otherwise feeling well. He has traveled the driveway in front of the hospital which leads to the main road and around the grounds which are a park like setting several times today. If you look at the photos in prior posts which show landscape, those pics are directly out of his hospital window. Go straight out about 1/4 of a mile and you get to the main road. That's the driveway he has walked. Great progress!!

Julie continues to be Rick's rock and stays close to his side all the time. Dave has made a few new friends while in Germany and has seen some of the sights in between visits with Rick. Both Julie and Rick can't wait to be home again. We all have felt that the care has been outstanding.

I am posting a photo of Madeline I took today out in the rain standing in our bog. The background is the horse pasture(very muddy). She has been fabulous here and we have been so blessed to have her. Thanks again for all of the posts. Rick and Julie have been enjoying reading them.
God is faithful.

Love,
Polly

  1. Thank you for the update. I can almost see Rick walking outside as those photos from the earlier posting were great visuals. Melanie talked with Kyle about taking you to their club to shoot clays when you get better. He is all for it. Since you live so close to them ( Bark Lk) it will be a good connection for both of you. Our Brewers are on a roll winning 4 in a row; last game of the road trip is today at Houston. If we could just get Para to be the pitcher he can be, we would really be in great shape. Anxious fo the this home stand so we can cheer out loud and not just at the television.
    Love ~ Susan
